A Couple of New Folk Art Birds

I have a couple of new Folk Art style bird focals.  Sorry, they will not be going into my Etsy shop, but are going to the market with me tomorrow.  However, the dandelion focal will be going into my Etsy.

Spring Show Report

On the May Day long weekend (in Canada, May 19, 20 & 21) a friend and I had our usual spot at the Kitty Coleman Art in Bloom craft fair.  The weather was fine on the Saturday, but Sunday and Monday were not the greatest, and as a result not many people came out on those days.  Fortunately, the people that came out on the Saturday were the "serious" ones, and our sales were quite good.  Also, fortunately, I went around on the Saturday and took some photos.

View of our booth from the corner.

Our booth from the front.

Beautiful Rhodos

I love this colour.

Gorgeous deep crimson.

So very feminine - I think these were my favourite.

Lots of ponds scattered throughout.

So pretty.

There were several fountains.

Another fountain - I love the sound of them (although sometimes they make me have to pee - lol)

I hope you have enjoyed my little show.  I meant to get around and take pictures of other booths on the Sunday,  but the weather was not cooperating.

Have a great week.

New Set of Folk Art Style Chickens

Horizontal chickens
I have a new set of folk Art Chickens in my Etsy shop - but these ones are horizontal instead of my usual vertical style.  A customer asked if I would make her some in this style, but I forgot that she wanted bands of colour at either end, so these little girls are looking for a new home.  The two on the outside are sitting in their nests, and you can see the one in the middle looks really worried because her nest has disappeared!  Either that or she got caught sneaking out of the hen house late at night!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

New Season of Markets

My booth

View to the left of my booth

View across from me
Although the Friday market in down town Nanaimo has been going for a few weeks now, last week was my first time for this 2012 season.  The photos above are of my booth and other adjacent booths, and although it was before opening time of 10:00 am, there were already people starting to wander around shopping.  Sales for me were about average and the weather was good, so I was happy.

My granddaughter walked down to visit me in the afternoon, so that made things even better :O)

I have a new earring display - you can see it on the left of my table.  It is a louvred shutter that we cut down and painted.  It looks like it is falling over in the photo, but I think that is an optical illusion - I'll check tomorrow!

Unfortunately rain is forecast for tomorrow, but I will still go as I promised a customer I would be there.

Have a great weekend!

Folk Art Style Chicken & Seagull tutorial now ready!

Folk Art Style Chicken & Seagull
The tutorial is now ready, and can be found in my Etsy shop.
This was a lot of fun to make, and I think you will be pleased with the results.  If you purchase the tutorial, and make some of the beads I would love to see them - I have all kinds of tutorials that I have purchased and have never used!

I haven't been torching now for about 6 weeks, and hope to get back in about a week or so.  I am just itching to get out to the studio.

My sister and I are sorting out my dad's estate, and getting everything ready to send the will for probate.  It looks fairly simple, and just a matter of filling in forms, getting all the material together, and making sure that all the t's are crossed and the i's dotted.  However I will be glad when it is done!
