Friday Market

Well, this last Friday's market was a total disaster.  Hardly any customers, and it poured (I'm talking cats and dogs here folks) three times.  I barely made enough to cover the artisan bread and cookies I purchased.  I keep thinking I should switch to selling baking - yeah right!!!  Next Friday is our July 1st holiday, so I am hoping that sales will be a bit better.

My booth is fairly wind resistant now though - not a stiff wind though, more like breeze resistant.  Although you can't see it from the picture, the T-bars and some of the necklace busts are clamped down with C-clamps to the open backed risers, and the others have weights clipped onto the back of them.  I need to bring something to raise the backs of the black trays up a bit though, so it is easier for shoppers to browse - not that we had many shoppers!  The other thing I am wanting is to purchase a large roll up type sign for the back of the booth.  The little one I have is just too small, and I am always afraid of it getting bent.  A plasticized canvas type one could be rolled up and kept in a bag.

Have a great weekend!

Flowers

Most of the 5 acres on which I live is in evergreen woods, however around the house we have a bit of "tamed" area.  These two shrubs are some of the lovely ones that come out at this time of year.  They are however a couple of weeks late this year, with all the cold weather we have been having.  The last couple of days have been quite nice, but the weatherman says we are in for some more rain!!  So these lovely shrubs will probably break many of their branches with the weight of their saturated blossoms.

The white orange blossom is right beside our front steps and the smell is just incredible - quite intoxicting in fact.  A few years ago we chopped it right back and divided it up and planted them in various locations around the property - it's really pretty.

Sorry, no beads today.  I have been trying to get over this cold, and haven't felt like lighting the torch.  I did manage to get out there today for a couple of hours and got some orders done - not that they can go anywhere with this @#$%& Canada Post strike on.

However I have been working on something else, and will probably show the reveal in the next few days - if it works, that is!

Happy Father's Day (and new beads)

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!  I hope you all have a day doing what you love the most.  I am postponing seeing my Dad until I am rid of my cold - the 2nd one in a month.  I think I need to take some vitamins or something!

I have a couple of new sets of beads for you to look at in my Etsy shop:  Aegean Seas and Supernova.

                                                                    AEGEAN SEAS

                                                                     SUPERNOVA
Have a great day!

Ancient Coins

A few weeks ago I purchased a new press from a company in Germany and have been practising with it.  I love the result, although I do find the press quite tricky to use - especially the smaller cavity.  It seems to be narrower at the opening and so when the glass has stiffened up (only takes a second or two) it is very hard to remove from the press.  Anyway, I will persevere.  I have been using some of the odd lot silver glasses that I can't seem to get to do anything with in a regular bead, and I love the way it comes out different colours and shows off the highlighted areas of the bead.
I have these beads, and a couple more, in my Etsy shop.
Have a great weekend!

"Commenting" Solution - I hope!

Thanks to some on line help from someone on blogger, I have been able to sort out the "I can't leave comments" problem.  First you have to clear out your history - cookies etc.  Then log out of blogger, and log back in but do not tick the "remember me" box - leave it blank.  You will have to log in each
time you want to go to your blog, but I just leave my computer on all day, and so I minimize the site, and that way I just log in once each day.  You may have to do the steps above a couple of times.  It worked for me, so I hope it works for you.

Just so you don't feel deprived without any beads to look at, here is a little set of beach style lentil beads.

Have a great weekend!

"French Tablecloth" Beads

I have just added 3 more of my French Tablecloth beads to my Etsy shop.  This time, I made some in bright orange and blue as well as the traditional yellow and blue.  I think I might even like them better!
Lots of other new items in my Etsy too.

Thanks for looking.

Teal and Lime Green - Luscious!

I 've been having a lot of fun making these mixed design sets of round beads.  They would be great for a bracelet.  These sets can be found on my Etsy shop.

Mother Nature just isn't cooperating in the weather department these days.  It is another day of rain here on the West Coast (or should I say Wet Coast), however the weather channel says that we are in for a stretch of sunny days - sure hope they are right!
